LEMOSHO ROUTE

This 70 km route will take most climbers at least 7 or 8 days. Considered by many to be the most beautiful route on Kilimanjaro, it has also become popular due to high summit success rate and incredible panoramic views.

The route approaches Kilimanjaro from the west, at the Londorossi Gate. The trek begins in a lush, fertile rainforest. We cross the Shira Plateau, where once above the forest line there are stunning views. The next day we climb to the Lava Tower before descending into the Barranco Valley, one of the most beautiful areas of the entire trail. There is a short climb to the Barranco Wall and a circuit to Karanga and at the end the Barafu Camp. The summit attempt starts from Barafu Camp in the early hours of the morning. After the summit, there is a descent along the Mweka trail.

The route passes through different climatic zones, is very scenic and one of the newest routes on Kilimanjaro, designed for people who can walk on difficult terrain and explore the majestic wilderness. The Lemosho route is considered challenging mainly due to its length, distance and ascent compared to other routes. On the other hand, going up and down is very useful for acclimatization. It fallows the golden words: "Climb high, sleep low", a good acclimatization strategy.
